I came to the Grenville Baker Boys and Girls Club (GBBGC) to connect with the community. Feeling the isolation of remote learning during the pandemic, the Club gave me the opportunity to share my knowledge by providing homework help to children in English, math, and computer science. Presently, I am excited to share my passion for coding with the kids. Grenville strives to create an environment where students are encouraged to develop their interests and enjoy learning. My GBBGC Codes initiative brings the wonders of technology to the Club in a novel approachable way, allowing students to earn points for prizes throughout the school year. Each coding project is worth points based on the KidOyO rating and students are able to track their progress throughout the year. It's been rewarding to be able to run the initiative three days a week and engage with children of different ages. The students take pride in their coding accomplishments and seeing their art and games come to life. I am thrilled to see the kids' confidence grow with each challenge. We can't wait to see where their inspiration leads!
